It combines the preferred features of both materials: The PVC film ensures high paint adhesion to the backing and increases the flexibility of the tape, while the use of the PET layer results in a high tensile strength. These properties are important in the automotive industry, as they allow the masking of window flange areas prior to paint processes, thus eliminating the need for additional surface treatment steps (such as primer) during the application of the window panes. Instead, the window pane can be directly bonded to the e-coated window flange area.
